Rishi Sunak has become the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
As Chancellor during the Covid-19 pandemic, Rishi steered the country through one of the greatest peacetime economic and social challenges this country has ever faced. He helped deliver the multi-billion pound furlough scheme which protected millions of jobs. Rishi was a calm and reassuring presence during his time as Chancellor and showed excellent judgement. These are exactly the skills and attributes needed now to face the challenges we face as a country.
There will of course be difficult decisions ahead - such is the nature of the global challenges at this time - but the Government has been clear that it will support the most vulnerable in society and protect our economy. As a Conservative Party, we now need to unite and deliver for the country.
