I arrived in Sheffield in the early 1960’s to join the family engineering company, which I ran until going self employed as an electrical/electronics engineer. I joined the Hallam Young Conservatives soon after coming to Sheffield and was a member and Vice Chairman for around 10 years. In 2001 I became a member of the Sheffield Conservative Association responsible for photographs, and printing and distributing leaflets. More recently I became a member of the Heatherfield Conservative Club and am also their President. I also produce their newsletter. Married with three grown up daughters and seven grandchildren and have lived in Whirlow for over 20 years.
I was born and bred in Sheffield and have lived here all my life. I have been Chair of Sheffield Conservatives since 2019, soon after retiring as a dental surgeon after forty- four years in general practice. I was also a part time honorary clinical teacher at Sheffield University. I like to encourage others and help them recognise their potential.
I grew up in Sheffield, but have lived for extended periods in the South-East and in Scotland. I have stood for local council election a number of times and am very glad to represent the Sheffield Conservatives as the Deputy Chair - Political.
I was born and brought up in Wirral, Cheshire but moved to Sheffield to attend what was then Sheffield Polytechnic. Following completion of my course, I worked for ten years in the private sector working in small and large businesses in marketing and publicity. After this I decided to re-train and teach business related subjects in Further Education. In my 30-year career in Further Education I progressed through from lecturing, course leadership, Head of Department, Curriculum Management and finally Assistant Principal - a role I held for four years before retirement. Retirement has provided me with the opportunity to develop my interests further - mainly property development and interior design, however, I’m also keen to get involved with working for local communities and council work provides an excellent opportunity for me to do this.
I have recently returned to Sheffield after working in various places in the UK and overseas. I have owned my own business for over 20 years and believe everyone should be able to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background.
Lewis Chinchen established and is now the Chairman of Sheffield Young Conservatives. The group looks to encourage Conservatives in Sheffield aged 25 and under to campaign, socialise and debate policy.
